Section E9 proudly announces that Dr. John R. Donat has been selected as the recipient of the 2025 Section E9 Legacy Fellowship. This prestigious award honors his exceptional mentorship, unwavering commitment to youth leadership, and lasting impact on the Order of the Arrow. John will be formally recognized at the upcoming Section E9 Conclave, taking place April 25-27 at Camp Rock Enon.
John has served as Section Adviser for Section E9 since May 2020, guiding youth leaders through a pivotal time in the Order’s history. Under his mentorship, youth officers navigated unprecedented challenges, adapted traditions, and strengthened the foundation of Scouting leadership. While the 2020 Virginia Conclave could not be held, John worked closely with youth leadership to maintain engagement and momentum. In 2021, as events resumed, his thoughtful advising helped youth leaders reimagine and revitalize the Conclave experience. His steadfast dedication has ensured the Order continues to thrive, evolve, and empower its young leaders.
Beyond the section, John has made significant contributions to national programs, including the National Order of the Arrow Conference (NOAC) and the Developing Youth Leadership Conference (DYLC). His leadership in the NOAC Training Committee, from line trainer to lead cell trainer, has shaped training opportunities for countless Arrowmen. In 2024, his expertise was once again on display were he led the National Council of Chiefs, helping to shape the future of youth leadership and adult mentorship in the Order of the Arrow.
John’s dedication extends far beyond his formal roles. As a mentor in the truest sense, he has fostered a culture of growth, integrity, and leadership that has influenced many past and present OA national officers. His tenure as Blue Heron Lodge Adviser from 2011 to 2015 set a strong foundation for youth leadership development, inspiring individuals who have gone on to serve at the highest levels of the Order.
The Section E9 Legacy Fellowship recognizes individuals whose service and mentorship have left an indelible mark on the Order of the Arrow. John’s leadership and lifelong commitment to developing young leaders make him a truly deserving recipient of this honor.
Join us at the 2025 Section E9 Conclave as we celebrate John’s achievements and recognize his invaluable contributions to the Order of the Arrow.
