We are proud to announce W. David Singletary as our 2024 Section E9 Legacy Fellow! This recognition honors David’s remarkable contributions to the BSA in Virginia, as well as his unwavering dedication to upholding the values of the OA.
David has always been a scout, starting as a Cub Scout in 1952. Since his induction in the OA, David has served as a chapter secretary, chapter chief, and as the 1964-1965 Blue Heron Lodge Chief. His love for Scouting continued into adulthood and has been able to share it with his three sons, who all earned their Eagle and were active in Wahunsenakah Lodge. David over the years has kept the spirit of service alive we he served as a Explorer Post Adviser, Den Leader, Cubmaster, Unit Commissioner, District commissioner, District committee member, Council Vice president, Council Committee Chair, and still serves on several Colonial Virginia Council committees. David has attended an impressive 17 NOACs, staffing most and working with shows, logistics and administration. He has served Wahunsenakah Lodge as a Committee Adviser, Chapter Adviser, and Associate Lodge Adviser. One of David’s most notable contributions to the Arrowmen of Virginia was his organization of 5 different lodges to complete trails in the George Washington and Jefferson National Forests not finished during ArrowCorps5, the OA’s 2008 project with the U.S. Forest Service. David worked with the National Forest System to coordinate equipment, camping, and support for ten weekends to complete the trails. David remains active and spends his time in Scouting as the Pipsico Scout Reservation “Busy Beavers” Lead helping restore the beautiful property, as well as serving on the Territory camp assessment teams to help maintain and improve the quality of scout camps around Virginia.
The Section E9 Legacy Fellowship is awarded annually to one individual who has demonstrated exceptional leadership skills and a commitment to service within the section’s Scouting community. We are proud to recognize David’s involvement and contributions to Scouting and the Order of the Arrow in Virginia for more than seven decades.
